CENTCOM Hits Iranian Tankers Near Kharg Island and Jask, Tally Reaches Five Ships

U.S. Central Command carried out new strikes on Tuesday near Iran's Kharg Island and the port of Jask, targeting crude oil tankers it says belong to Iran's shadow fleet. CENTCOM said the latest strikes brought the total number of Iranian oil tankers destroyed or disabled to five, following Iranian ballistic-missile attempts against a U.S. Navy warship on back-to-back days this week.

Why this matters. Each additional tanker strike removes sanctioned Iranian export capacity from the water, directly squeezing the revenue Tehran uses to fund its military response and widening the economic-warfare track alongside direct naval confrontation.
