Iran raises gasoline price for heavy users, citing war and sanctions

Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said that from Tuesday, gasoline used beyond 110 liters a month will cost 100,000 rials a liter, while the two lower subsidized quotas keep their current prices.

Why this matters. Fuel price rises set off widespread protests in 2019, so even a targeted increase shows how hard sanctions and the U.S. blockade are pressing on Iran's fuel supply.
