Iran says U.S. blockade leaves it unable to import enough petrol

Vice President Mohammad Jafar Ghaempanah said "petrol production is insufficient, and because of the U.S. naval blockade, we cannot import it," IRNA reported, as Iranians queued at gas stations after the new U.S. sanctions; he also criticized fuel subsidies that favor owners of several vehicles.

Why this matters. It is an official admission that the blockade is biting on domestic fuel supply, days after the president's chief of staff said oil quotas would be reviewed.
