Iran drops 10% freight surcharge on foreign oil and gas carriers

Iran eliminated a 10% surcharge it had been charging on freight fees for foreign vessels carrying oil, gas and liquid petroleum products, a move following disruptions to seaborne oil exports caused by the U.S. naval blockade.

Why this matters. Cutting the surcharge is a direct financial incentive for foreign carriers still willing to risk Hormuz transit, an attempt by Tehran to keep some oil exports flowing despite the U.S. blockade and near-collapse in tanker traffic.
