IRGC claims it shot down a US MQ-9 drone over the Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said their air defences hit a US MQ-9 long-range drone with missile fire over the Strait of Hormuz and that it crashed into the Persian Gulf, according to a statement carried by Tasnim, Fars and Mehr. The claim was not independently verified.

Why this matters. Like its claim of heavy damage at the Jordanian bases, the unverified shootdown claim fits Tehran's effort to show it still controls the strait after the US strike on Larak Island.
