Lebanon sets pilot-zone condition for Rome talks

L'Orient, citing AFP, reported Lebanon would attend the next Israel-Lebanon talks in Rome only if Israel withdraws from two southern pilot zones. AP separately reported that the framework's Hezbollah-disarmament condition is deepening Lebanon's internal divide and raising fears of civil conflict.

Why this matters. The framework has become an implementation fight: a withdrawal timetable, Lebanese army deployment and Hezbollah disarmament now decide whether direct talks lower the temperature or import the war into Lebanese politics.
