Oman postpones GCC-Iran Hormuz talks as Brent crude jumps past $107

Oman postponed a scheduled Gulf Cooperation Council-Iran meeting in Salalah meant to negotiate managed shipping conditions through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran said Saudi Arabia requested the delay citing 'recent events in Yemen.' The postponement removed the week's expected de-escalation catalyst; Brent crude rose to $107.82 a barrel (up $3.21) and WTI to $103.22 (up $3.17), driven also by an Iranian attack on a tanker and continued closure of Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline after a September 10-11 drone strike.

Why this matters. The delay removes the only near-term diplomatic mechanism for restoring normal Hormuz tanker transits, keeping shipping insurance premiums elevated (3-10% of hull value) and sustaining the oil price spike affecting global fuel costs.
