UAE Ministry of Defence detects two Iranian ballistic missiles in territorial waters

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence announced that its air defense systems detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran targeting maritime navigation. One missile fell outside UAE territorial waters while the second landed within territorial waters.

Why this matters. Targeting of maritime routes near UAE territorial waters expands the risk of direct Gulf state involvement and prompts higher commercial maritime insurance premiums.
