UN verifies 55 civilian casualties in Yemen fighting this month, including 10 children killed

The UN Human Rights Office verified 55 civilian casualties in 19 incidents in Taiz, Hodeidah, Marib and Lahj since the start of September, including 16 people killed, 10 of them children, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said, adding that the real toll was likely much higher and that access limits and funding shortfalls were hampering aid.

Why this matters. The UN says the verified count understates the toll; the UN migration agency put the number displaced in two weeks at 112,000 a day later.
