US approves $5bn sale of bombs and guidance kits to Saudi Arabia

The State Department approved a possible $5bn sale of bombs, guidance kits and related equipment to Saudi Arabia, saying it would improve the kingdom's 'airborne defense capability to counter current and future regional threats' and its interoperability with U.S. forces.

Why this matters. Saudi Arabia has been targeted by Iranian and Houthi drone and missile strikes since the U.S. and Israel launched the war on Iran in late February.
