Brent tops $92 as oil rises for a second day on renewed US-Iran fire

By 9:10 a.m. EDT on Sept. 1, ICE Brent for November was up 2.43% at $92.72 a barrel and NYMEX WTI up 2.86% at $88.19, after two tankers carrying Saudi crude were hit in the Strait of Hormuz the previous evening. Prices rose further after the US strikes on Iran, with Brent just below $96 at 10 p.m. ET.

Why it matters

The rally ended weeks of relative calm and left Brent more than 30% above prewar levels, feeding fuel costs in importing economies.
