Brent crossed $100 a barrel early Wednesday for the first time since July 24, reaching $100.07 by 07:21 GMT, and settled up 3.4% at $101.21, its highest close since May 22; WTI settled at $96.05. Goldman Sachs said intensifying attacks on shipping raised the risk of oil above $120.
Why it matters
Triple-digit crude fed straight into record US diesel prices and showed markets now pricing a lasting Hormuz disruption.
