Comparing Sentinel-2 satellite images from July 7 and July 12 showed new impact scars inside the Bushehr nuclear power plant complex and another apparent strike site at nearby support facilities, after Iranian officials had said the plant itself was not damaged.

Why it matters

Bushehr is Iran's only operating nuclear power plant, and the images contradicted the earlier assurance; two days later the IAEA urged restraint near nuclear sites after another site was hit.
