Drone strike sets generator fire at UAE's Barakah nuclear plant; no radiation release

Abu Dhabi said a drone hit an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah plant in al-Dhafra, causing a fire with no injuries and no radiological impact; the Defence Ministry said three drones crossed the western border and two were intercepted, and on May 19 said they came from Iraqi territory. The IAEA said it was following the situation closely.
Why it matters
Nobody claimed the strike on the Arab world's first commercial nuclear plant, which can meet about a quarter of the UAE's energy needs.
