Hegseth called Project Freedom 'separate and distinct' from the war and said 'right now, the ceasefire certainly holds', while Gen. Dan Caine said Iran had attacked US forces more than 10 times and fired on commercial ships nine times since April 8, below the threshold for resuming major combat. Rubio said that evening that Operation Epic Fury was 'concluded'.
Why it matters
Washington chose to treat the Hormuz clashes as short of a ceasefire breach and keep the truce alive.
