Israeli President Isaac Herzog said he will announce on November 8 whom he will task with trying to form a government after consulting party leaders. France 24 reported that 67 lawmakers recommended Gadi Eisenkot and 46 recommended Benjamin Netanyahu.
Why it matters
Herzog’s designation starts the formal coalition-building process and determines which bloc gets the first opportunity to assemble a parliamentary majority.
