Indian-flagged dhow sinks off Oman after an attack; India calls it unacceptable

India's foreign ministry said an Indian-flagged vessel was attacked off Oman on May 13 and its crew were rescued by Omani authorities, without naming the attacker. Maritime security firm Vanguard identified it as the livestock carrier MSV Haj Ali, a wooden dhow with 14 crew, and said it sank off Limah after a suspected drone or missile strike.
Why it matters
It added to a string of unclaimed attacks on merchant ships around Hormuz.
