In Sacred Defence Week messages, army commander Maj. Gen. Amir Hatami said Iran's armed forces stand "with full vigilance and readiness" to defend the country, and the IRGC said the US and Israel would sooner or later have to accept a region "free of their evil and criminal presence," with its forces' fingers "on the trigger."
Why it matters
The messages came a day after Trump said he was weighing military action, economic pressure or a deal, and set Tehran's public line just as its delegation headed to the UN General Assembly.
