IRGC claims hits on two US destroyers and eight tankers; CENTCOM says no warship struck

The IRGC said it struck the destroyers DDG-119 and DDG-53 and then that its navy hit 'two American vessels and 8 tankers', plus 10 other 'violating ships' in a prohibited zone of the strait. CENTCOM called the destroyer claim 'completely false', saying no US warship was struck and all IRGC attempts failed.
Why it matters
Reuters called it the biggest wave of attacks on shipping by both sides since the war began, even though Iran's claims against US warships were denied.
