Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's office said Saturday that he met senior military commanders and directed them to prepare for an immediate and effective response, without geographical restriction, if Iran is attacked again. The statement came as mediators sought to prevent renewed fighting between Iran and the United States.
Why it matters
The directive signals that renewed attacks on Iran could trigger retaliation beyond the immediate conflict zone, affecting regional military bases and infrastructure.
