Iranian state media said a US missile hit a home hosting a wedding in Kuhestak, Sirik county, on the night of Sept. 1, killing two women and two children aged 4 and 16 and wounding at least 68; early official counts ranged from two to five dead. CENTCOM said it was looking into the reports and that the US military 'never targets civilians.'
Why it matters
Weapons experts told AP that fragments shown by Iranian media came from a US-made SLAM-ER missile, and the IRGC cited the strike to justify its missile attack on Jordan.
