Iran says about 30 ships, including Chinese vessels, crossed Hormuz with IRGC approval

Iranian state TV, quoting the IRGC Navy, said about 30 vessels had crossed the strait since Wednesday evening with Iranian authorisation, and Fars said Chinese ships were being let through under Iran's "management protocols" after talks with Chinese officials. Iranian officials said ships must submit cargo, ownership and route details for a transit permit, and that vessels from "hostile" countries would be refused.

Tehran was presenting controlled passage, rather than closure, as the new norm for the strait on the day Trump met Xi in Beijing.
