Iran's military said naval commandos boarded the Ocean Koi in the Gulf of Oman for trying to 'disrupt' Iranian oil exports and escorted it to Iran's southern coast. MarineTraffic data showed the tanker empty, and it had been sanctioned by the US under an earlier name as part of Iran's own shadow fleet.
Why it matters
