Kuwait said Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait City sustained material damage in an attack on Friday morning, and that Mubarak Al Kabeer Port, under construction as part of China's Belt and Road Initiative, was hit by drones and cruise missiles. No injuries were reported.

Why it matters

The strike on a Chinese-backed project was one of the first on Chinese-linked infrastructure in the Gulf during the war, even as China kept buying Iranian crude.
