Qatar said Iran fired five ballistic missiles and one got through, striking Ras Laffan Industrial City, the world's largest LNG export facility, and starting fires that QatarEnergy said caused extensive damage; no casualties were reported. QatarEnergy said early Thursday that several other LNG facilities had also been attacked.

Why it matters

About a fifth of the world's LNG supply moves through Ras Laffan; the Revolutionary Guards said they had begun hitting regional energy infrastructure over South Pars, and Abu Dhabi suspended its Habshan gas plant after interception debris fell.
