Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair told Iraq's state news agency INA on Monday that oil exports have averaged more than 3.4 million barrels per day so far in October, up from 2.65 million in September and close to pre-war volumes. He said Iraq is exporting through Hormuz, the pipeline to Turkey's Ceyhan port and tanker trucks through Syria. Most Iraqi crude still crosses Hormuz from southern terminals.

Why it matters

The reported recovery adds roughly 750,000 barrels a day compared with September, while Iraq's continued reliance on Hormuz leaves most exports dependent on passage through the strait.
