An Israeli air attack struck an apartment in the al-Asala building in Gaza City's Remal neighbourhood, killing at least five people and severely wounding at least six, according to medical staff at al-Shifa Hospital. Palestinian Civil Defence crews searched the site after the strike.
Why it matters
The attack adds an active Gaza front to Israel's regional military commitments and creates an immediate civilian-casualty and emergency-response demand in a densely populated displacement area.
