Exit polls released after Israeli polling stations closed projected 50 Knesset seats for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's bloc and 52 or 53 for the bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot. A governing majority requires 61 seats.
Why it matters
Neither leading bloc is projected to control 61 seats, making coalition negotiations decisive for the next Israeli government's approach to the regional conflict.
