Israel’s Joint List said it would tell President Isaac Herzog that it recommends opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot to form the next government. Arab-majority lists won 19 of the Knesset’s 120 seats in the election.
Why it matters
The recommendation could strengthen Eisenkot’s route to assembling a governing coalition and affect Israel’s decision-making during the regional conflict.
