Israeli soldiers and police detained about 80 Palestinian, Israeli and international volunteers near Nahalin outside Bethlehem while they accompanied Palestinian farmers harvesting olives. U.S. congressional candidate Brad Lander said he was released with a warning, while several dozen others remained detained.
Why it matters
The mass detention interrupts Palestinian farmers' olive harvest during a period of heightened settler violence and places U.S. citizens among those still held by Israeli authorities.
