The Israeli army said it carried out a "targeted strike" on an apartment in Choueifat, south of Beirut; Israeli media reported the target as Ali al-Husseini, head of Hezbollah's missile unit, while the Times of Israel named Ali al-Husni of the Iran-linked Imam Hossein Division. Lebanon's Health Ministry said a woman, her baby daughter and a Syrian child were killed and 15 wounded.

The capital had been largely spared since the April truce, so the strike widened Israel's escalation beyond the south.
