Iranian state media said the Khondab heavy water plant near Arak and a yellowcake production plant in Yazd province were hit, after the Israeli military told residents near Arak to evacuate; Israel also struck the Mobarakeh and Khuzestan steel complexes. The IAEA said the Khondab plant held no declared nuclear material and reported no off-site radiation from the yellowcake site.

Why it matters

Israel's defense minister had warned that morning that attacks on Iran would 'escalate and expand', and the move to nuclear-fuel-cycle and heavy industry sites came as Washington was pressing a ceasefire plan.
