Israeli strikes that began at dawn hit Nabatieh, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Arab Salim and Kfar Remman, killing at least seven people and wounding more than 20, Lebanese authorities said, and destroyed the out-of-service Ghandour hospital. Israel said it was responding to two Hezbollah drones launched at its troops and warned residents of Arab Salim to evacuate before one strike.
Why it matters
President Joseph Aoun called the strikes a dangerous escalation reaching state institutions and health facilities and urged Washington to act, putting pressure on the U.S.-brokered Israel-Lebanon framework.
