Israeli drones hit seven vehicles on Wednesday, three of them on or beside the Beirut-Sidon highway near Jiyeh and Saadiyat about 20km south of the capital, killing 12 people including a woman and her two children, Lebanon's Health Ministry said. Israel said it struck Hezbollah infrastructure after ordering residents of six southern villages to leave.
Why it matters
The strikes reached well north of the southern front a day before Israeli and Lebanese envoys met in Washington, with the truce due to lapse on May 17.
