MI5 Director General Ken McCallum said Iran had made a major shift toward harder targets, including military sites, and said more than 50 Iran-linked arrests had been made in the UK over the past year. He cited the alleged plot against RAF Fairford as an example but withheld further details because of ongoing investigations.
Why it matters
The assessment signals that UK authorities are treating alleged Iranian activity as a military-installation security threat, which can drive tighter protection and access measures at defence sites.
