Cargo ship Minoan Pioneer hit off Khasab; crew abandons ship and a seafarer is missing

UKMTO said a cargo vessel made a distress call after being hit by an unknown projectile about 20 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman. Greek risk firm Marisks named it as the Liberian-flagged Minoan Pioneer and said the strike caused a complete blackout; maritime sources told Reuters the crew abandoned ship and the third engineer was missing.
Why it matters
It followed the GasLog Shanghai strike off Limah on July 31 and a near miss off Khasab on August 1, all on the Omani side while Iran and Oman negotiated a joint route.
