Oman's Maritime Security Centre said it evacuated 25 people from the Panama-flagged merchant ship RITI after it caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz. MarineTraffic identified the vessel as a crude-oil tanker.
Why it matters
The evacuation adds a fresh confirmed disruption to tanker traffic through Hormuz and may further constrain shipowners' willingness to transit the strait.
