Marco Rubio told US media that reaching a peace deal with Tehran is extremely difficult, according to Al Jazeera. The outlet reported his assessment amid continuing attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, without providing details of a new negotiating proposal.
Why it matters
Rubio's assessment gives shipping operators no indication of an imminent diplomatic agreement to restore passage through Hormuz.
