Saudi East-West pipeline back online at a low rate; Yanbu exports could resume

Saudi Arabia restarted its East-West Pipeline at a low rate and could resume crude exports from the Red Sea port of Yanbu later Tuesday, three sources told Reuters; drone attacks had forced it shut on Sept. 13. Brent fell more than $2 to about $97.81 a barrel, its lowest since Sept. 8.
Why it matters
The pipeline has been rerouting about 4 million barrels a day, roughly 4% of global supply, to the Red Sea around Hormuz, so its restart restores Saudi Arabia's main bypass.
