India said two Indian-flagged LPG tankers carrying roughly a day's supply of its cooking gas crossed the strait late Monday on a route approved by Iran close to its coast, and tracking data showed the Chinese-owned container ship Newvoyager transited Iran's pay-to-pass corridor between Larak and Qeshm islands.

Why it matters

A trickle of ships from countries Iran does not treat as enemies was moving on Tehran's terms, entrenching its control over who can use the strait.
