Treasury sanctions 13 more parts of financier Babak Zanjani's Iran network

OFAC designated four individuals and nine entities in Babak Zanjani's sanctions-evasion network, including his Iran-based 'Dot One' conglomerate and companies outside Iran supporting his already-sanctioned Zedcex and Zedxion digital asset exchanges. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the regime is paying 'a steep economic price' with the rial at another record low.
Why it matters
Zanjani, once sentenced to death in Iran for embezzlement, has re-emerged as a regime-linked financier; the action targets gold, crypto and transport businesses Iran uses to move money abroad.
