President Trump wrote on Truth Social that "There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!" and said the U.S. and allies would rebuild Iran after it chose a "GREAT & ACCEPTABLE" leader. The Dow fell more than 900 points and Brent crude broke $90 a barrel after the post.
Why it matters
The demand appeared to shut the door on mediation that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had just confirmed was under way.
