Hours before his 8 p.m. EDT deadline, Trump posted that "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again," adding "I don't want that to happen, but it probably will" and that with "Complete and Total Regime Change" something "revolutionarily wonderful" might happen. Pope Leo called the threat "truly unacceptable."
