UAE agrees to renew funding for anti-Houthi forces as Saudi Arabia offers air cover

The UAE agreed to resume payments to some Yemeni government forces fighting the Iran-aligned Houthis in southern Yemen, according to sources in Yemen cited by the Guardian. Saudi Arabia agreed in return to provide air cover. The arrangement follows the UAE's withdrawal from operations and suspension of funding in January.

Renewed funding and Saudi air cover would support southern anti-Houthi forces, including the Giant Brigades, as Houthi advances threaten their positions.
