UAE says Iran has fired 165 ballistic missiles and 541 drones at it, killing three

The UAE Defense Ministry said it had detected 165 ballistic missiles, destroying 152, two cruise missiles and 541 drones, intercepting 506, and that three people from Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh were killed and 58 injured. Iran's security chief Ali Larijani said bases hosting U.S. forces were "American soil" and would be hit.

Why it matters

The scale of the barrage on a state that took no part in the strikes pushed the UAE to close its embassy in Tehran and recall its ambassador that evening.
