UK agrees to refuel Saudi jets defending against Houthi attacks

Prime Minister Andy Burnham said Britain agreed to a Saudi request to provide "defensive air-to-air refuelling" for a limited period, to help Saudi aircraft counter Houthi drones and missiles rather than support strikes in Yemen. He said Saudi Arabia "has been experiencing attacks" and "we need to keep those pathways open."

Why it matters

Britain stepped in the same day reports said Trump had called off US strikes on the Houthis, as attacks threaten Saudi energy exports that bypass Hormuz.
