UN Security Council meets in emergency session as Guterres warns of wider war

Secretary-General António Guterres told the council the U.S. and Israeli strikes violated international law and the UN Charter, condemned Iran's retaliation against Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and urged an immediate halt and a return to U.S.-Iran talks. U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz called the strikes "lawful actions"; Russia's envoy called them "another unprovoked act of aggression."
