The USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group is expected to leave San Diego in the coming weeks for a deployment of more than seven months, relieving the USS George Washington, which recently replaced the USS Abraham Lincoln in the region, U.S. Naval Institute News and CNN reported.
Why it matters
It keeps a U.S. carrier in the region, where one has been on station since strikes on Iran began in late February, to enforce the naval blockade.
