Yemen’s government closed the al-Houban crossing between Houthi-held al-Houban and government-held Taiz, citing security concerns after an alleged Houthi infiltration attempt, nearby attacks and a military buildup, government media official Ammar al-Sami’i told Al Jazeera.
Why it matters
The closure cuts a major civilian connection into Taiz that had reopened in 2024 for humanitarian use, restricting movement across the front line during renewed fighting.
