Rashad al-Alimi, head of Yemen's Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council, announced military operations to retake remaining Houthi-held territory and ordered government military and security forces to execute the approved plan.
Why it matters
The order opens a new government offensive against the Iran-backed Houthis, potentially expanding fighting around Yemen's Red Sea coast and inland supply routes.
